Mailpit

Mailpit is a lightweight email testing tool for local development, designed as a modern replacement for MailHog. It runs an SMTP server that intercepts all outgoing emails and displays them in a web interface — ensuring no test emails are sent to real addresses.

Mailpit provides an API for programmatic access, supports HTML and plain text rendering, handles attachments, and includes a search function. It runs as a single binary with minimal resource usage and is commonly deployed as a Docker container in development environments. The project is open source on GitHub.
