Open Food Network
The Open Food Network is a digital platform designed to transform the way food is produced, distributed and accessed. It serves as a collaborative marketplace connecting local food producers, farmers and artisans with consumers and shoppers. Through this platform, individuals can discover and purchase fresh, locally sourced food directly from producers in their region. The Open Food Network promotes transparency in the food supply chain, enabling consumers to make informed choices about where their food comes from and how it is produced. By supporting local economies, reducing food miles and promoting sustainable farming practices, the Open Food Network contributes to building resilient and just food systems that prioritise people and planet.
The OFN Switzerland association was created to bring this international platform to Switzerland. Tegonal, and more specifically Mikel Cordovilla Mesonero, has taken care of the technical consulting for this association; deployment, specific adaptations for Switzerland and integration with other tools such as n8n, metabase, etc. Mikel is also in charge of representing OFN Switzerland in the international community.
From a technical point of view, the Open Food Network platform is written in Ruby, the deployment is automated with ansible and the DB used is Postgres.
